City, county offices close for Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Both Sarasota County and the city of Sarasota have announced a series of closures for Monday, Jan. 18, in observance of the holiday.

Most Sarasota government offices will be closed Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the city and county have announced.

In addition to the city and county administrative offices, the Florida Department of Health will also be closed. Next week’s City Commission meeting is scheduled for Tuesday at 2:30 and 6 p.m.

All county libraries and recreation centers will be closed, as well as the gun range at Knight Trail Park. Payne Park will be open for regular hours, and Arlington Park and Aquatic Center will be open noon to 5 p.m.

Sarasota County Area Transit service will not be affected, though the SCAT customer service stations will be closed. Garbage pickup in the city and county will not be impacted by the holiday.
