Community Development District 6 Supervisors remain focused on improving safety at the Balmoral Woods Boulevard gatehouse.

After learning from Manatee County transportation officials the intersection of Balmoral Woods and Lakewood Ranch Boulevard did not warrant a traffic signal, they will do what they can to promote driver safety.

The district plans to stripe the roadway exiting from Country Club West onto Lakewood Ranch Boulevard.

Engineer Rey Malave recommends a designated left turn lane to go south onto Lakewood Ranch Boulevard from Balmoral, and straight/right-turn arrows to go across or north on Lakewood Ranch Boulevard from the right-hand lane.

The district also will install  signage, possibly with a flashing light, to help direct motorists.

“Something that draws your eye to it,” Supervisor Hank Hofeler said.

In District 1, supervisors continue to work toward a contract with the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office for off-duty patrols.

Chairwoman June Stroup said the district has not had any problems or complaints since eliminating roaming security patrols  more than a year ago. However, the board wants to have an agreement with the Sheriff’s Office in place so that if issues arise, they can address the situation.

In CDD 2, supervisors authorized spending up to $25,365 on four irrigation mainline valve replacements. The fiscal year 2016 budget allocates $30,000 for the project. ... CDD 2 supervisors also authorized the district engineer to evaluate Lake 232, at the intersection of Legacy Boulevard and The Masters Avenue, because of drastic changes in water level. Work will cost $3,600.
