Car hits Sarasota school bus

A Nokomis man crashed into a moving Sarasota County school bus at 8 a.m. today as he attempted to back out of a driveway.

The school bus was headed southbound on Bay Point Avenue and was approaching Palm Avenue when the car backed eastward out of a private driveway and struck the right side of the bus.

No injuries were sustained as a result of the crash and the Sarasota County School Board notified the families of the students aboard the bus at the time of the crash.

The driver of the car was driving with a suspended driver’s license and was issued citations for improper backing and driving with a suspended driver’s license.
