Bulldogs top Wolfpack

Five of the East Manatee Bulldogs’ six teams defeated the Fishhawk Wolfpack to open the season.

The Tiny Mites tied the Wolfpack 12-12. Quarterback Hunter Wright and running backs Drew Marra and Nick Burrus led the way for the offense while cornerback Michael Colaco and defensive linemen Jared Henderson, Brock McCue, Teagan Randall and Jack Muller provided a strong defensive effort.

Tight end Nate Ashley scored three touchdowns and running back Ethan Bement added two more, leading the Mitey Mites to a 35-13 victory. Justin Porter had an interception and a fumble recovery to lead the way defensively.

Keyon Fordam took the opening kickoff 60 yards and scored touchdowns on four of his first five carries, rushing for 200 yards in the first half and leading the Junior Pee Wee team to a 33-0 victory. Colin Goda returned an interception 55 yards to lead the ay defensively.

The Bulldogs’ Pee Wee team also posted a shutout, defeating the Wolfpack 20-0. Jenard Porter scored a pair of touchdowns and Noah Benghuzzi added another touchdown. Doug Polk added a two-point conversion. Chase Tench led the way defensively with an interception.

The Junior Midgets posted a 14-0 victory while the Midgets won 24-8.
