During the Historical Society Potluck Picnic on the Porch Saturday, Broadway Bar owner Carolyn Heath, above, could be seen watering a vegetable garden at the Bidwell House.

Growing in the garden — maintained by the Broadway Bar — is oregano, parsley, tomatoes, peppers and, soon to come, broccoli. Earlier that morning, Heath picked handfuls of fresh herbs with which she made a salad for the potluck.
