The Florida Highway Patrol is searching for information on a dual cab pickup truck involved in a hit-and-run accident at the intersection of University Parkway and Lockwood Ridge Road around 5:40 p.m. Wednesday.

A FHP report states two vehicles were traveling westbound in the outside lane of Unviersity Parkway, heading toward Lockwood Ridge, when a 2007 Audi driven by 29-year-old Christina Reynolds, of Sarasota, stopped for a red light.

The other veicle, possibly a Chevy or Ford truck with an extended bed and a large chrome grill on the front, failed to stop, causing the truck's front to strike the rear of Reynolds' vehicle. The truck fled the scene heading northbound on Lockwood Ridge.

Authorities did not get a description of the truck's driver or its Florida tag.

Investigators are trying to locate the vehicle and its driver. Anyone with information on the crash or the identity of the driver should contact the Florida Highway Patrol at 239-938-1800 and speak with Crash Investigator Trooper Verdecia.
