Athlete of the Week: Adam Strawderman

Thirteen-year-old center fielder Adam Strawderman went 12-for-19 at the plate with five home runs and 17 RBIs to help Lakewood Ranch Little League capture the 11-12-year-old division of the District 26 All-Star Tournament. The Braden River Middle School eighth-grader has been a member of the Lakewood Ranch Little League All-Star team every year since he was in the 9-10 division.

What does it mean to you to be an All-Star?
It feels good knowing that I was one of the best players in the league.

Why do you think you were so successful at the plate throughout the District 26 All-Star Tournament?
Because of all of the training that I do.

How long have you been playing baseball?
Since I was 4 years old.

What do you enjoy the most about baseball?
I just like hitting. I like to see how far I can hit the ball.

Do you have a favorite baseball player?
Bryce Harper. I like how he got drafted when he was 18 years old.

Do you know what you want to be when you grow up?
A major league baseball player.

What’s your favorite subject?
Science. I like doing fun experiments.

If you could go anywhere on vacation, where would it be?
To meet Bryce Harper (in Washington, D.C.).

Who is your biggest role model?
My dad. He’s been training with me a lot, and he helps me get better.

If you could have one super power, what would it be?
To become invisible so nobody could see me.

What’s your favorite food?
Buffalo wings.

Do you have any siblings?
I have a brother Nate, 13, and four sisters: Amanda, 20, Morgan, 16, Jaden, 11, and Brianna, 10.

If you could play another sport for a day, what would it be?
Football. I like hitting people.
