3-year-old drowns in Sarasota

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office reports a 3-year-old girl is dead after a drowning Friday morning.

Deputies responded at 10:24 a.m. to a home in the 3200 block of Henrietta Place, Sarasota after reports of a drowning. The report said when they arrived, they located a 3-year-old girl at the bottom of the swimming pool.

 The child was transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead. According to the report, detectives believe the drowning was accidental. At the time of the incident, three children under 6, including the victim, were being supervised by their 16-year-old cousin.
