Vocal Vixens warm up for cabaret performances

Sarasota's Vocal Vixens, consisting of Kathryn Parks, Lyn Purmort and Hannah Jae, are warming up for their upcoming cabaret performances at 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23 and 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, at Venice Theatre.  Formed a little more than a year ago, the group performs sets featuring music from the most well-known female vocalists of all time, spanning a wide variety of genres and eras.

The trio, along with pianist Bob Constantino, recently allowed us to sit in on a rehearsal preparing for their newest performance, which will follow the story arc of a vocal vixen, from humble beginnings to success, love, heartbreak and beyond.
