Oct. 12 Safety first 7:30 p.m. - Off the Key. Traffic Violation. Police pulled over a juvenile for riding a motorcycle without a helmet on Longboat Pass Bridge. It was discovered the boy was riding a moped, but he still received tickets for driving with a learner's permit only and not wearing a helmet.

Backstage Pass: Low-budget theater performs big-name production

The Comic Shack's theater group is composed of 18- to 43-year-olds (or Avant Guard, as they call themselves), and is presenting "Rent," for which they are proud of obtaining rights. This popular show is their first big-name production.
