Dr. Daniel Gordis spoke on how to heal the rift between Israel and American Jews.
A packed room at the Ritz-Carlton Sarasota on Feb. 11 listened to a community lecture from the Jewish Federation's guest, author Dr. Daniel Gordis.
Gordis is senior vice president and a Koret Distinguished Fellow at Shalem College in Jerusalem. He wrote a book in 2016 titled "Israel: A Concise History of a Nation Reborn." He is writing a book on American Jews and their relationship to Israel, which he expects to be published this year.
Gordis delivered a first-hand account of life in Israel and related it to his experience as a Jewish person living in the United States. He then described the differences between the cultures and possible solutions on how to narrow the gap between the two.
