The annual men's tournament brought tennis players from 33 states to Longboat Key.
Although the crowds were quiet, the competition was intense at this year’s Senior Clay Courts Super Category II Tournament.
For more than 10 years, the tournament has brought tennis players from all over the country to the Longboat Key Public Tennis Center for six days of competition, and this year was no exception. 284 players entered this year’s tournament, and 33 states were represented.
The tournament had singles and doubles matches for men between the ages of 55 and 80.
Tournament chairman Rich McGrath said his favorite part of the tournament was being able to watch all of the matches. McGrath, who participated in the tournament himself, organized the event alongside George Bachman and volunteers who helped with registrations, concessions and more.
