An excavator has been tearing apart the former Moore’s Stone Crab Restaurant on Longboat Key this week.

The new Shore on Longboat Key will be in Longbeach Village at the north end of the island.
Shore on Longboat Key will feature a 2,300 -square-foot kitchen.
Shore co-owner Mark Caragiulo said demolition of the former Moore’s Stone Crab Restaurant should take less than 48 hours.
Roughly half the restaurant is in ruins as teams continue demolition this week.
Contractors joked with a passing bicyclist that a car had crashed into the restaurant.
Moore’s sold for $3.2 million last year.
Shore on Longboat Key will also boast 185 seats, 55 parking spaces and 16 boat slips.
Longbeach Vilage residents and the town of Longboat Key anxiously awaited the demolition of Moore’s.
“We're excited to get started,” said Shore co-owner Tom Leonard.
A mangled air conditioning unit was still buzzing and steaming this morning.
