Longboaters Suzan and Keith Bickel read The Longboat Observer at Othello's Castle in Famagusta, Cyprus. The trip was part of a longer one that took place this past summer and included Turkey, Greece, and the Greek islands.
The St. Armands Circle Association met for their September General Membership Meeting on Tuesday, September 21, at the Hotel Indigo. Approximately 30 members of the association turned out to discuss new business and upcoming events in the circle.
The Windsor of Lakewood Ranch hosted several events to celebrate its fifth anniversary and National Assisted Living Week Sept. 12-16. An anniversary party Sept. 14 included a plethora of refreshments as well as live music by guitarist Alex Pearson.
In honor of September being Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, a local fundraiser called "Bowl for the Gold" raised money for the Just One More Day Foundation, which provides support for families affected by diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma.
Children in Heritage Harbour enjoyed a special night with their special snugglies Sept. 17 at the Stoneybrook recreation center. The community hosted a Teddy Bear Picnic complete with teddy-bear-themed treats, activities and crafts.
There were definitely plenty for this potluck. Even though season has yet to hit the island, Christ Church of Longboat Key, Presbyterian USA welcomed more than 40 of its members for a fish fry/potluck Friday, Sept. 17, at Islands West.
