Time to See It: The Ringling's Sandy Rodriguez: Currents of Resistance

Now through August 10, 2025 at the Ringling is your time to see Sandy Rodriguez: Currents of Resistance! Rodriguez brings her powerful vision to Sarasota with the culminating exhibition of her 2023 Hermitage Greenfield Prize commission. Drawing on 16th-century codices and colonial maps, Rodriguez reimagines history through vibrant visual narratives that confront colonialism and environmental exploitation while celebrating cultural resilience.

Developed across Florida and California, this multimedia installation features video, audio, a 40-foot hand-painted panorama and a mesmerizing “cabinet of curiosities.” Blending past and present, this exhibit features old, immersive experience that speaks to our times — inviting art lovers to reflect, question and connect.
