Youth trespasses GreyHawk Landing home

A 16-year-old boy was arrested for burglary Friday night.

The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said a neighbor saw the boy leaving a house at about 8:30 p.m., in the 1200 block of Cara Cara Loop in GreyHawk Landing.

The neighbor was watching the house for the owner, who was out of state. The boy did not live there. He had trespassed inside.

Deputies apprehended the suspect soon afterward.

With his parents present, the suspect said he obtained the code for the garage from the homeowner’s son and entered the garage at 4 p.m. Thursday.

He then entered the residence without the homeowner’s permission and slept in the master bedroom.

Inside the home, the boy and his friends ate some of the homeowner’s food.

Deputies said the boy also admitted to smoking marijuana.

The suspect was arrested and taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital due to the marijuana use.

He then was transported to a juvenile detention facility.
