Saturday, Dec. 3

Kiwanis Club Gourmet Lawn Party

Takes place from noon to 2 p.m. at the Longboat Key Club’s Islandside golf course, 220 Sands Point Road. Enjoy dishes from more than 30 local restaurants at the Kiwanis Club of Longboat Key’s annual fundraiser. Individual tickets are $50. Tables of 10 are available for $450. Raffle tickets will be sold for $100 apiece. Call 383-0440.

 

Saturday, Nov. 26

Santa Jaws

Takes place from noon to 2 p.m. at Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium, 1600 Ken Thompson Parkway. Mote visitors will have the chance to pose with Mote mascot Gilly the Shark dressed as Santa Jaws for holiday photos. Visiting with Santa Jaws is included in admission. Category II
Longboat Key Senior Men’s Tournament 

Takes place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 29 to Dec. 4 at the Longboat Key Tennis Center, 590 Bay Isles Road, the Longboat Key Club. 220 Sands Point Road, and Cedars Tennis Club, 645 Cedars Court. Tennis fans can enjoy cheering on various players during the 14th annual tournament. Call 316-8367.

 

Thursday, Dec. 1

Sip & Shop

Takes place from 4 to 7 p.m. at J McLaughlin, 515 Bay Isles Parkway. The event is hosted by the Longboat Key Chamber of Commerce’s community outreach committee. Fifteen percent of sales will benefit Salvation Army Adopt-a-Family. For information, call J McLaughlin at 960-2071.

 

Friday, Dec. 2

Holiday Nights on St. Armands

Takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. at St. Armands Circle Park. Kick off the holiday season with an event featuring performances by the Sarasota High School Theater Dance Group and Chamber Choir, a Christmas carol sing-a-long, tree lighting and a special visit from Santa Claus. Call 388-1554.

 

Sunday, Dec. 4

Run for the Birds

Check-in begins at 7 a.m., the race begins at 8 a.m. at Ed Smith Stadium, 2700 12th St. Join Save our Seabirds and the Baltimore Orioles for a 5K and 1-mile run to benefit Save our Seabirds, Inc. Cost is $35 for the 5K and $25 for the mile run. Call 388-3010.

Movement, Muscles and More

Lord’s Warehouse

Hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the south end of the Longboat Island Chapel campus behind the parking lot, 6200 Gulf of Mexico Drive. Gently used women’s and men’s clothing, accessories and home goods will be discounted by 50%. Call 610-301-2796 or 383-6491.

Wonderful Wednesdays Book Sales

Take place from 9 a.m. to noon at the Longboat Library, 555 Bay Isles Road. Gently used books will be discounted by 50%. Paperbacks will be 25 cents, and hardback books will be 50 cents to $2.50. Call 383-2011.

 

Rotary Club of Longboat Key

Takes places at 10 a.m. beginning Nov. 13 at Christ Church of Longboat Key, 6400 Gulf of Mexico Drive. The group is open to ages 12 to 18. The program includes a discussion on faith, life and the participants’ futures. Ideas from the Bible and the Christian church will be shared. Call 383-8833.
