Woman charged in hit-and-run death

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Department arrested 45-year-old Leslie Williams Wednesday, June 5, in connection with the hit-and-run death of her husband, Christopher Williams.

Investigators allege the couple began arguing inside their Oakford Road home March 17, and moved the confrontation outside. Leslie Williams struck her husband with a 2006 GMC Yukon Denali, and ran over his body as she fled the scene, according to Sheriff’s Department news release.

The couple’s son called for an ambulance when he discovered his father’s body.

The Sheriff’s Department charged Leslie Williams with vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a crash with death. She is being held without bond.
