Sarasota County deputies arrested 29-year-old Joan Williams as she exited a Southwell Way home carrying thousands of dollars worth of stolen jewelry Monday, Sept. 23.

Deputies set up a perimeter in the Bent Tree area after surveilling Williams. Witnesses had identified Williams as a possible suspect in a previous Bent Tree burglary, according to a news release.

The Sheriff's Office charged Williams with three counts of possession of burglary tools, two counts of burglary of an unoccupied dwelling and one count of attempted burglary. Williams told detectives she was committing the crimes to fuel her addiction to painkillers.
