The Willowbrook Condominium Association has signed off on an agreement with builder KB Home, paving the way for repairs to buildings in the community by a third-party contractor.

"As a national homebuilder that has been in business for more than 55 years and built more than half a million homes, KB Home stands behind its product and is committed to the repair of the homes in the Willowbrook community," KB Home spokeswoman Cara Kane said. "We are pleased to have a signed agreement in place with the Willowbrook Condo Association, which authorizes a 3rd party contractor to make the necessary repairs at the expense of KB Home. We look forward to proceeding immediately for the benefit of the residents of Willowbrook."

A group of homeowners in Willowbrook have been campaigning for KB to buy back their homes, because many properties are severely damaged by water intrusion and other structural issues.

Those residents said they were displeased with the agreement.

"We are disappointed in a board who in no way represents residents' best interests," said homeowner Sally Urbaniak, who is helping lead the charge to buy back homes. "We have been kept in the dark through this entire process-why? This is an unfortunate decision based on information which does not accurately reflect the construction nightmare KB Home has left us with. We will continue to expose KB Home. This is in no way over."
