Wildcat claims victory in Band Weintraub Cup

East County and Sarasota residents enjoyed an afternoon of fast-paced polo during the Band Weintraub Cup Jan. 19, at the Sarasota Polo Club.

Joseph Stuart scored 10 goals in the match to lead Wildcat to a 14-11 victory over Siaana.

After a closely contested first chukker, Stuart scored five goals over the next two chukkers to give Wildcat a 7-3 score, which it wouldn’t relinquish.

Nicolai Galindo scored a pair of goals, and Ryan Gilbertson and Rob Berg each had a goal to round out the scoring for Wildcat.

Francisco Llosa scored five goals, and Josh Shelton added four goals to power Siaana.

Stuart was named the Most Valuable Player, and Teresa Mull received the Best Playing Pony award for her horse Izzy’s performance.

Teams return to action at 1 p.m. Jan. 26, in the Rolls-Royce Tampa Bay Cup & Merrill Lynch.
