For the first time in the Kiwanis Club of Longboat Key’s history, a Longboater will become lieutenant governor for the state’s Kiwanis Club 18 North Division.

At the Kiwanis Club of Longboat Key’s Aug. 29 meeting, outgoing Lt. Gov. Jackie Booth presented the club with the lieutenant governor banner that will be displayed at weekly meetings during John Wild’s term, which will run from October through Sept. 30, 2014.

Wild’s position acts as a go-between between the Kiwanis Club’s Florida district governor and the four clubs that reside in Division 18 North.

Wild and Booth recently worked together with other Division 18 North club presidents to collect more than 300 jars of peanut butter for local area food banks that were running low on the high-protein food source. Longboat Key Kiwanis Club members secured $100 for the drive.
