Developers, builders and construction companies are all contributing campaign money to County Commissioners Joe Barbetta and Nora Patterson, who are up for re-election this fall. But Patterson, who’s married to a lawyer, is also receiving donations from attorneys.

And, based on financial reports, it’s clear the two incumbents are easily outdistancing their lesser-known opponents when it comes to fundraising.

Patterson faces Republican challenger Mark Smith in the August primary. The winner of that race will face Democrat Mark Hawkins in November.

Barbetta is unchallenged in the Republican primary, but will go up against Cathy Antunes, an Independent, in the November general election. Because Antunes just entered the race two weeks ago, she has not yet filed a financial report that lists her contributors.
