Weekend Best Bet: Siesta Key Amateur Sand Sculpture Contest

Grab your shovels and buckets for the 42nd Siesta Key Amateur Sand Sculpture Contest Saturday, May 3.

Sand sculptors of all ages and abilities are invited to take part at this free event with construction running form 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Siesta Key Public Beach, 948 Beach Road.

Sculptures will compete in four categories, adult humorous; adult miscellaneous’ youth ages 11 to 17; and children 10 and younger.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at the beach pavilion. Judging will take place at 1 p.m.
