Something fishy is happening tonight on Longboat Key: The Longboat Key Historical Society is holding its Pioneer Day Fish Fry at 6 p.m., Oct. 15, at Mar Vista Dockside Restaurant & Pub, 760 Broadway.

The event will feature a menu of both mullet and grouper, fried-green tomatoes, cheese grits, two complementary glasses of wine or beer and more, along with entertainment from Blues Pig.

The Historical Society began holding fish fries in 2005 to resurrect an island tradition from the 1950s. Although in past years, the event was known as the Old Time Fish Fry, this year, it was renamed because the group hopes Longboat Key’s pioneers will attend.
