By spotlighting young, up-and-coming dancers, visual artists, musicians and vocalists the Sarasota County Arts Council hopes the next generation will become involved and supportive of local arts and culture.

The organization’s newest, hippest entertainment event, “Opera Lounge: Sopranos on the Half Shell,” kicks off with two hometown singers returning from Boston and Nashville — Kimberly Begin and Erica Stephanie Reynolds. The set list includes an aria from Romeo and Juliet, a piece by Grace Potter and the Nocturals, Eisley’s Marvelous Things and some Mozart.

The event also will feature the Art Whisperer, D.J. Rus Deep and a special appearance by Christine Alexander from Lazy Fairy Improv.
