An event as diverse as Florida's residents, My Hometown Fest is designed to cover a broad range of comfort foods that represent different parts of the country.

From noon to 6 p.m. April 9, Premier Sports Campus, located at 5895 Post Blvd., is serving up food and drinks from the West Coast, Midwest, Southeast, Northeast and Atlantic regions, to give attendees a taste of America's different cultures.

Clam chowder and hush puppies are just a few of the items on the menu this weekend.

Twenty-four vendors are expected to attend the inaugural event.

Tickets are $50 at the gate to attend the event, which benefits the Sertoma Club of Sarasota County, a nonprofit that assists children who have speech, language and hearing issues.
