WEEKEND BEST BET: Memorial Weekend Luau

A Memorial Weekend Luau will be held at Gilligan’s and LeLu Coffee Lounge Sunday, May 30, as a post-celebration party for the 36-miles that Sarasota residents Robert Martini, a lifeguard for the Sarasota County Beach Patrol, and Abe Uccello, a realtor with Waterside Realty, will paddle using only their arms Saturday, May 29.

Proceeds from the luau will be donated to the Sarasota County Junior Lifeguard program. Martini and Uccello have already raised about $2,500 in donations, but hope to bring in at least $4,000 for this summer’s programs. Festivities start at 2 p.m. and will feature live reggae music, a back patio cookout with Perry’s BBQ, raffles, prizes and giveaways. A Village Pub Crawl will follow the luau.
