Courthouse Concert Series: Koko and Karma Dou

Enjoy the free outdoor concert series at the Manatee Court House with the R&B and rock ’n’ roll musical stylings of the Koko and Karma Dou. DaVinci’s food truck will also be on hand to serve up fresh coffee, food and gelato.

Local artist John Sims releases a musical project 13 years in the making: A collection of 14 remixes of the controversial song, "Dixie," in various black musical stylings, performed mostly by Sarasota musicians. Admission includes a copy of the CD.

Les McCurdy’s 60th Birthday Roast

It’s a party full of laughs as comedians Bobby Collins, Ken Sons, Tim Wilkins, Tim Moffett and Valarie Storm pay tribute to comedian and club owner Les McCurdy on his 60th birthday. Proceeds from the night, which includes an open bar, dinner and roast, will benefit the Sertoma Club of Greater Sarasota, which helps children in need improve their speech and hearing capabilities.

"Chitty Chitty Bang Bang"

We need an adult ... John Rusnak is back with his annual haunted house, Frightmares, this time in a new location at the Ringling Shopping Center. “So You Think You Can Dance” Season 12 Tour

The Sarasota Opera opens up its fall opera season and the final year of its historic Verdi Cycle with Puccini’s “La bohème.” Performed locally in 2006 and 2011, the world’s most popular ballet returns to Sarasota with an all-new ensemble, including Jessica Rose Cambio as Mimì, Angela Mortellaro as Musetta, Martín Nusspaumer as Rodolfo and Craig Irvin as Marcello. Directed by Stephanie Sundine, this opera tells the passionate tale of the bohemian lifestyle in 1840s Paris.
