Volunteers to converge for river cleanup

As part of a nationwide initiative to comb through parks, beaches and other recreational staples within neighborhoods, Keep Manatee Beautiful will host The Great American Cleanup from 9 a.m. to noon April 5, at 1289 Hagle Park Road, Bradenton.

As part of a nationwide initiative to comb through parks, beaches and other  recreational staples within neighborhoods, a local chapter of Keep America Beautiful l will host The Great American Cleanup this weekend.

From 9 a.m. to noon April 5, Keep Manatee Beautiful will orchestrate a cleanup of Upper Manatee River, for volunteers who want to take part in ridding thenorth side of Upper Mantee River Road of litter. 

Participants who own boats, kayaks and canoes are encouraged to bring them to help assist others who don't own any means of water transportation. A free boat launch is available, and Ray's Canoe Hideaway will provide a select number of canoes.

The event will start at 1289 Hagle Park Road, Bradenton.
