Dick Vitale says he'll do anything to raise money for cancer research.

Today, he withstood 30 buckets of ice cold water being dumped over his head.

Wearing khaki shorts and a polo shirt, Vitale, an ESPN basketball commentator and Lakewood Ranch resident, sat in a chair outside the Lakewood Ranch First Watch as members of the girls Cardinal Mooney basketball team, his grandchildren and others took turns dumping water over him.

The event was part of the #ChillingForCharity "Cold Water Challenge," an initiative to raise money for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.

Fellow broadcaster Leah Secondo challenged Vitale to participate. She donated $50 to the foundation on Vitale's behalf. At the event, she challenged three other broadcasters to the challenge, meaning she would pay $50 for each if they agreed to participate, or they would have to pay $250 to the initiative.

Vitale used the opportunity to raise money pediatric cancer research through the V Foundation for Pediatric Cancer Research. He offered the public a chance to pour ice water over them for a donation of $100.
