The Sarasota Police Department Tuesday, Feb. 4, unveiled the results of an 18-month drug investigation that resulted in 10 arrests, $115,000 in cash and the seizure of 12 kilos of cocaine.

Operation Sarasota Cartel II began in August 2012. The State Attorney's Office, the Drug Enforcement Agency and other law enforcement entities helped Sarasota Police surveille and arrest 10 members of an alleged local drug ring that supplied as much as 12 kilos of cocaine to the Sarasota and Bradenton areas per week, according to Sarasota Police Lt. Pat Ledwith.

"We got upper and mid-level dealers out of this operation," said Police Chief Bernadette DiPino.

DiPino said the investigation is ongoing.
