VIDEO: Police investigate assault on SCAT passenger

The Sarasota Police Department is investigating an incident in which a man allegedly brandished a blade at a woman ignoring his advances on a Sarasota County Area Transit bus Saturday afternoon.

According to the unnamed victim, a black male between 20 and 40 years old made several attempts to talk to her, then began repeating her name "incessantly." The suspect then showed the woman a box-cutter knife he had in his pocket, according to a news release.

Detectives are looking for a thin black male who was last seen wearing a light-colored T-shirt, shorts and a Miami Heat hat. Anyone with information about the incident or the suspect should call Sarasota Police Det. Kim Laster at 316-1199.
