The Siesta Key north bridge has started working after malfunctioning Thursday morning.
Earlier: One of the two routes to access Siesta Key is currently closed.
Sarasota Police confirmed that as of roughly 10:30 a.m. Thursday, the Siesta Key north bridge is stuck in the open position. Traffic has built up on Siesta Drive, and officers are on the way to the scene to determine the cause of the malfunction.
Police spokeswoman Genevieve Judge has advised drivers to avoid the area and use the Stickney Point Bridge.
The Florida Department of Transportation could not be immediately reached for comment.
