The owners of the voting machine that malfunctioned at the Supervisor of Elections office concluded their investigation today and determined that no votes that were counted on that machine will be lost.

Dominion Voting found that an abnormal or hard shutdown occurred on the machine. That can happen when the power switch is held down for several seconds to force a shutdown or when a battery is removed while the machine is on.

The company said when that happens the vote tabulation is not affected.

As of Aug. 19, 2,045 votes had been counted on that machine. A poll inspector noticed the malfunction last week and reported it to the Supervisor of Elections Office, which asked the Dominion Voting to look into the matter.
