UPDATE: Manatee crash closes both lanes of I-75

All lanes of I-75 between S.R. 70 and University Parkway have reopened following a tanker truck crash late Monday.

Earlier: As heavy fog rolled onto the Gulf Coast late Monday, a fuel tanker crash in Manatee County closed northbound and southbound lanes of I-75 between University Parkway and S.R. 70.

As of 8 a.m., northbound lanes have reopened, but southbound lanes remained closed while emergency personal and Hazmat teams clean up the scene. The incident happened at 11:20 p.m. last night, according to a flash report from the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.

A tow company remains in the process of uprighting and removing the overturned tanker truck in the southbound lanes, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.
