The interchange of University Parkway and Interstate 75 soon will have a new traffic pattern, following an overnight closure.

The Florida Department of Transportation on Tuesday night will set up a temporary detour for the intersection as construction crews put a temporary bridge structure in place over University Parkway.

To accommodate the move, University Parkway will be closed at the interchange from 11 p.m. Feb. 2 to 5 a.m. Feb. 3.

Motorists traveling westbound on University, wishing to travel west through the intersection, will be directed to travel northbound I-75 to State Road 70 and then exit southbound I-75 to get onto university.

Motorists traveling eastbound through the interchange will be directed to Fruitville, where they can turn around to drive north and exit on University.

FDOT is reconfiguring the interchange to a diverging diamond design and also adding an auxiliary lane on north and southbound I-75, among other improvements.
