The “Unconditional Surrender” is coming back to the bayfront in November.

The 26-foot tall statue was removed in April after a woman driving a four-door white Mercedes Benz smashed into the base of the statue, causing enough damage to the structure to force it to come down.

The aluminum statue of a sailor and a nurse kissing was sent to New Jersey for repairs in May.

Insurance dollars from both the woman’s car insurance and the Sarasota Public Art Fund are footing the $125,000 repair bill.

A welcome back party is planned in November when the statue is put back in place.
