The county will begin designing a variety of improvements to Turtle Beach on Siesta Key.

Commissioners approved a $332,806 contract with CPH Engineers to design and oversee construction of a new dune walker and playground that are both compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, gazebo, picnic shelters, kayak-launch ramp, pavilion, additional parking, improvements to existing parking, pedestrian trails and interpretive and wayfinding signs.

Design work will begin immediately and be complete in June 2012.

Improvements to the Turtle Beach Campground are not included in this phase of the project but will occur later.

CPH Engineering is a Sanford-based company, which has a satellite office on Fruitville Road.
