The town of Longboat Key is monitoring Tropical Disturbance 35, which, as of Thursday morning, was moving northwest in the central Gulf of Mexico at a speed of 8 to 10 mph.
Current forecasts suggest that the storm could head toward Louisiana or Texas. The town will continue to monitor the storm through the weekend.
