After less than one year in her role as Longboat Key’s town attorney, Maggie Mooney-Portale announced her resignation Monday at the end of the Longboat Key Town Commission regular workshop.

“We’re just not the right fit for one another,” she said of her decision to step down.

She declined further comment, but will remain in her position for another 90 days, per a contract agreement.

Commissioners did not comment on the announcement, but Town Manager Dave Bullock said the decision caught him off guard.

Mooney-Portale is with the law firm of Persson and Cohen, the same law firm where David Persson served as town attorney for the previous 23 years.
