Tigers pull past Pirates

The Braden River High boys soccer team fell to Palmetto 4-2 in Class 4A-District 10 action tonight.

The Pirates took a 1-0 lead midway through the first period when midfielder Ryan Rawlings found the back of the net off a missed shot by midfielder Matt Wagner. Palmetto responded in the 31st minute when Jose Zamudio fired a shot just over the head of Braden River’s goalkeeper.

Braden River reclaimed the lead to open the second period when Jordan Parkerojeda fired off a shot when Palmetto goalkeeper Brandon Tarpley got caught outside the box. The Tigers tied the game at 2-2 in the 50th minute on a similar shot by Brandon Waddy. Zamudio added a pair of goals in the final 15 minutes of regulation to secure the win for Palmetto.

Braden River returns to action at 8 p.m., Jan. 8 at home versus Osceola.
