Three men were arrested on Longboat Key this morning in a string of residential and automobile burglaries.

Antonio Houston, 23, Jeremy Le’Edwin Smith, 19, and Montel Drayton, 18, all of Bradenton, were arrested. Additional charges are expected.

Longboat Key Police Capt. Pete Cumming said this afternoon that police are currently investigating two residential burglaries and six automobile burglaries.

“We’re still discovering crime scenes, especially since many of our residents are out of town,” Cumming said.

Longboat Key police responded to reports early this morning of suspicious persons in the residential area of Neptune Drive and found that an automobile had been burglarized and no sign of the suspects, according to a report. While investigating this crime, police began to receive other reports of suspicious activity and residential burglaries. Officers responded to one report at Emerald Harbor and interrupted a residential burglary in progress, arresting one suspect. Two additional suspects fled the residence by foot.

The second residential burglary also occurred in Emerald Harbor, according to Cumming. Agents from Manatee County Sheriff’s K-9 and Air Watch units and Bradenton Beach police assisted Key police in tracking the remaining two suspects, who were arrested without incident in the 6800 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive.
