Tax on Manatee commission agenda

Manatee County Commissioners will decide June 21 whether to put a half-cent sales tax on the November ballot.

A citizens advisory group recommended the tax as a way to generate revenues to pay for repairs and maintenance of aging infrastructure. Representatives said the tax would be most fair because it affects all residents, not just property owners, and about 35% would be paid by non-residents.

The item is slated for 10:30 a.m. 

The meeting will be held at the county commission building, 1112 Manatee Ave. W., Bradenton.
