Tamiami Trail lanes closed due to flooding

Sarasota Police expect northbound lanes of U.S. 41 at the intersection with Bee Ridge Road to be closed for 2 hours.

Sarasota Police have asked that drivers avoid using the intersection of South Tamiami Trail and Bee Ridge Road due to heavy flooding from today’s storm.

Officer have closed northbound lanes on U.S. 41 in that area until at least 2 p.m, and advise anyone who needs to be on the roadway to use Tuttle Avenue instead.

“It’s a mess,” said SPD spokeswoman Genevieve Judge. “The whole intersection should be avoided.”

Other areas with severe flooding include:

  • U.S. 301 and Sixth Street
  • Fruitville Road and Second Street
  • John Ringling Causeway westbound toward St. Armands Circle
  • Portions of Ben Franklin Drive
