Authorities have arrested a man in the armed burglary of a Carolina Landings home.

Around 11:30 p.m., Thursday night, Manatee County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Jeffrey M. Weber, 34.

A sheriff’s office report states Jessica Sosa was alone in her home in the 7700 block of Plantation Circle in Carolina Landings around 4:30 p.m., Jan. 27, when she saw an unknown male peering through a window of the front door. Sosa answered the door, and asked what the man was doing. The suspect, Weber, said he was looking for Sosa’s boyfriend, who owed him money.

Weber would not wait outside or come back at a later time when her boyfriend was home and pushed the door open, walked inside and sat on the couch after telling Sosa he had a gun, the report states.

Sosa called her boyfriend, and Weber fled, taking the key from the deadbolt of the home as he left.

Through investigation, Weber was identified as the suspect and was positively identified in a photographic lineup late last night.

He was apprehended by authorities and arrested on an unrelated charge for obstruction, the report states.
