A maintenance worker at Dolphin Tower condominiums arrived at work Tuesday, Oct. 23 to discover that aluminum beams used to support the vacant building during construction work were missing.

The 117-unit downtown condominium building was evacuated two years ago because of a faulty fourth-floor concrete slab.

At least 60 of the temporary aluminum support beams were taken from the job site, according to a Sarasota police report. The beams are used to support the Dolphin Tower’s structure during construction. The construction area was closed off and locked at the time of the theft.
