Glebe Park will be a pretty busy place during the next few months, as Suncoast Sports Club launched its spring soccer and NFL flag football programs.

The soccer teams began their 2012 campaigns March 10; and the NFL flag football teams will kick off March 24.

Steve Weeks, the founder of Suncoast Sports Club, said he is excited for yet another season at Glebe Park. Since 1998, Weeks has been the man behind getting the sports club organized and creating a fun and sports loving environment for both the kids and the parents.

“We are non-competitive,” he says. “It is all about learning how to play a sport and not about winning or getting cut or having feelings hurt. Everyone plays for at least 50% of each game.”

This year, there are 300 soccer participants ranging from 3 to 13 years old. The flag football program will welcome 180 participants ranging in age from 5 to 13.

All games are played from 8:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday.

Since its inception, Suncoast Sports Club has had more than 5,000 athletes come through its program, and many are now playing in middle school, high school and college.

In addition to spring soccer and football, Suncoast Sports Club also offers programs for golf, tennis and lacrosse.
