The best technology minds in the county converged Feb. 16, at Manatee High School, for the annual Technology Student Association District Competition.

Braden River, Brookside, Buffalo Creek, Haile, King, Nolan and Sugg middle schools all participated, as did Braden River, Bayshore, Lakewood Ranch, Manatee and Southeast high schools. Braden River High School and Nolan Middle School both took overall bragging rights at the district level once again this year.

“Our students carry a lot on their shoulders, because they are expected to win to keep the legacy alive,” said Gil Burlew, engineering and leadership academy chairman at Braden River High School. “We have won the most awards each year ever since the Manatee District Competition started, and this year was another record-setter with Braden River High bringing home 23 trophies. I couldn’t be any prouder of these outstanding students.”

Students will head to state competition March 13, in Orlando.
