The sales associates at Taffy’s menswear in St. Armands Circle don’t just know their customers by name- they also know their clothing size, favorite styles and even which colors they like to wear.

“Customer service is extremely important to us,” says owner Jack Peffley, who has been at Taffy’s, first as manager and then as the owner, for over 20 years.

“We have customers whose kids have now grown up and started shopping with us, so we’re on the second or even third generation of some families.”

Taffy’s is a full-service men’s apparel store that has been at the same location in St. Armands for 46 years. Peffley, who co-owns the store with his wife, Nancy, keeps a file on each customer's clothing size, previous purchases and address so that they can shop from the store even if they've returned to their hometown for the summer.

You won’t find the traditional brown and grey business suits that line the walls of most men’s stores, but if you’re looking for resort clothing in bright colors and unique styles, this is place for you.

“One of the keys to our success is having merchandise in colors and fabrics that you don’t find elsewhere,” says Peffley. “If you’ve been in one Macy’s store, you’ve seen them all. If you come into my store, you’ll find colors and fabrics that you won’t see in any department store in the country.”

Taffy’s also has their own tailor shop on the premises, which allows customers to get the perfect fit in brands such as Tori Richards, Jack Victor and Sportif.

“Our clothing is for the businessman who likes to dress casually on the weekends and in the summer,” says Peffley.
